For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild-Biscan Wjt-Ho. 7 Motive 19.9.1955 Der Dom zu Magdeburg zur Nutzung freigegeben Der in jahrelanger Arbeit wiederhergestellte Dom zu Magdeburg ist am 15.9. von der Baupolizei abgenommen und zur Nutzung freigegeben worden. Die feierliche Eröffnung des Doms ist für 22. September geplant und soll gleichzeitig mit der Einführung des neuen Bischofs Jänicke vorgenommen werden. Die Wiederherstellung des knapp vor Kriegsende von amerikanischen Bomben schwer zerstörten Doms hat über eine Million DM gekostet und wurde ausschliesslich aus den Staatsmitteln bestritten. Auch nach der Freigabe zur Nutzung sind viele kleinere Kriegsschäden zu beheben. UBz, Ausschnitt aus der Bronze-Grabplatte des Erzbischofs Friedrich von Wettin. Diese Grabplatte ist von besonderem Wert, weil sie eines der wenigen Stücke ist, die noch aus dem ersten Dom (der 1207 niederbrannte) erhalten blieb. Die Platte stammt aus der Magdeburger Giesserwerkstatt Requinus, die auch die Erztüren für die Kathedrale zu Nowgorod geliefert hat. |
