For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Eisenach, Wartburg, Pallas, Kapelle nach Restaurierung Zentralbild Bez.Red.Erfurt Wittig 22.2.1956 Schwei-Sch. Erfolgreicher Abschluss der Restaurierungsarbeiten auf der Wartburg bei Eisenach. Nach den neuesten Methoden der Restaurierungstechnik, mit großzügiger finanzieller Unterstützung der Regierung der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik, wurde das Wahrzeichen der deutschen Einheit, die Wartburg bei Eisenach, in mehrjähriger Arbeit wieder hergestellt. Diese Arbeiten waren schon vor 25 Jahren geplant, kamen aber nie ur Ausführung. Sie konzentrierten sich vor allem auf den Palas, die Kemenate, die Vogtei, den westlichen Wehrgang und die Wartburgkapelle, und wurden von dem Direktor der Wartburg-Stiftung, Dr. Siegfried Asche, geleitet. UBz: die Kapelle im Palas nach ihrer Restaurierung. So sah die Kapelle ca. 1320 aus. Der helle Wandton und die lehmgelben Fenstereinfassungen sind teils nach Originalen oder im Originalzustand ergänzt, Orgel, Stühle und Leuchter sind neu, aber dem Stil des Ganzen angepasst.
