For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild-Leipzig-Wlocka Qu 22.10.1957 Das Spielfeld im 100 000-Mann-Stadion in Leipzig erhält seinen letzten Schliff Der Platzmeister des 100 000-Mann-Stadions in Leipzig, Hans Richter, ist bemüht, dem Spielfeld, auf dem am 27.10. das mit Spannung erwartete Weltmeisterschafts-Qualifikationsspiel CSR-DDR ausgetragen wird, ein repräsentatives Aussehen zu geben. Hans Richter sagte zum bevorstehenden Spiel: "Wir wollen den Rasen des Spielfeldes in Schachbrettform schneiden, damit das Feld auch wirklich ein repräsentatives Aussehen bekommt. Wir hoffen alle auf einen Sieg unserer Mannschaft. Der Ball ist rund, und es ist durchaus möglich, dass mit Hilfe der lautstarken Unterstützung aller Zuschauer unsere Mannschaft den Sieg davontragen wird. Wir haben es erst am Wochenende erlebt, dass eine Mannschaft über sich hinaus wachsen kann, als die stark favorisierte Mannschaft der von der Mannschaft Polens 2: 1 geschlagen wurde." UBz.
