Lauchhammer, Fahrt zur Arbeit Zentralbild Sturm Ulmer 16.12.1957 Seit drei Generationen in der Braunkohle Im Braunkohlenwerk VEB "Friedenswacht" in Lauchhammer arbeiten der Baggermeister Kurt Donath und sein Sohn Herbert. Ein Leben ohne Kampf um die Gewinnung der Braunkohle können sich die beiden nicht vorstellen. Sie wissen die Bedeutung der Braunkohle für unsere Wirtschaft zu schätzen. UBz: Kurt Donath fährt zur Arbeit. Der Anmarsch zum Vorschnitt ist nicht einfach. Sein Verdienst erlaubte es ihm, sich ein Moped zu kaufen. Da geht es schneller. Mutti Donath verabschiedet ihren Gatten am Küchenfenster.
