Harry Glass, Manfred Brunner, Werner Lesser, Hans Renner und Helmut Recknagel erklärten, wenn wir in den kommenden Monaten wieder auf den größten Schanzen der Welt unser Können unter Beweis stellen, wissen wir, dass wir uns dieses Können nur durch die großzügige Unterstützung unseres Arbeiter- und Bauerstaates aneignen konnten. Wir wissen auch von den katastrophalen Zuständen, die speziell im Westberliner Sport vorhanden sind. Mit der Verwirklichung der sowjetischen Vorschläge wurde u.a. auch der Sport in Westberlin aus seiner mißlichen Lage herauskommen können.
