For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Zentralbild Mellahn-24.2.1960 Rostock: MS "Völkerfreundschaft" zur ersten Ferienreise ins Mittelmeer verabschiedet. Das 12.400 Tonnen große FDGB-Uraluberschiff "Völkerfreundschaft", das aus Mitteln der Steckenpferdbewegung erworben wurde, nahm am 24.2.1960 die ersten 500 Passagiere für die Jungfernreise des Schiffes ins Mittelmeer an Bord. UBz: Die ersten Urlaubsreisenden werden im Rostocker Hafen verabschiedet.
