Olymiasieger Helmut Recknagel war mit Abstand bester Teilnehmer am Eröffnungs-Sprunglauf am zweiten Weihnachtsfeiertag (26.12.1960) auf der großen Fichtelberg-Schanze in Oberwiesenthal. Den zweiten Platz belegte Veit Kührt.
