For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Zentralbild Burmeister-18.5.1962 Einer der bedeutendsten Schiffbaubetriebe an der DDR-Ostseeküste ist die Mathias-Thesen-Werft Wismar. Während des zweiten Weltkrieges gab es auf der damaligen "Hansawerft" in Wismar etwa 150 Beschäftigte, nahezu 7.000 arbeiten heute auf den modernen Helligen unter der riesigen Kabelkrananlage und in den Schiffbauhallen. Zum Produktionsprogramm der Werft gehören Binnen- und Seefahrgastschiffe, Docks und auf das modernste ausgerüstete Fang- und Verarbeitungsschiffe für die volkseigene Fischereiflotte der Republik.
