For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Chemnitz, Straße der Nationen, Neubauten Zentralbild Gahlbeck 4.7.1964 Aufbau Karl-Marx-Stadt Blick auf die Strasse der Nationen. Dieser Abschnitt des Karl-Marx-Städter Zentrums läßt schon deutlich die Magistrale der zukünftigen modernen Großstadt erkennen. In diesem Jahr stehen für den Neuaufbau des Stadtzentrums von Karl-Marx-Stadt 34 Millionen DM zur Verfügung. Seit Beginn der Bauarbeiten wurden bereits unter anderem 11 moderne Häuserblocks mit mehr als tausend Wohnungen errichtet. Für die Neugestalltung des Zentrums stellte der Arbeiter- und Bauern-Staat bisher 130 Millionen DM bereit.
