For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Magdeburg, Hafen, Lastkähne Zentralbild Biscan 15.7.1964 Der Magdeburger Hafen "15. Jahrstag der DDR" ist der größte Binnenhafen der DDR. Er wurde in den letzten zwei Jahren modernisiert. Im Hafenbecken "Trennungsdamm", wo die Schiffe auch bei niedrigstem Wasserstand voll beladen werden können, wurden zwei neue Portal-Wippkräne (unser Bild) aufgestellt. Durch Inbetriebnahme dieser beiden nodernen Kräne wird die Be- und Entladungskapazität in diesen wichtigsten Hafenbecken verdoppelt. Daraus ergeben sich für die Schiffahrt kürzere Liegezeiten.
