For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Dresden, Hofkirche, Figurenschmuck ADN-ZB Sturm 21.12.1971 Dresden: Hofkirche - Restaurierte Figuren - Diese Plastiken - zwei der 78 Kolossalfiguren auf der weltberühmten Dresdner Hofkirche - sind nach der Zerstörung im zweiten Weltkrieg wieder restauriert worden. Bei den Angriffen anglo-amerikanischer Bomber im Februar 1945 wurden 13 Figuren total vernichtet, 58 mehr oder weniger stark beschädigt. Für die Wiederherstellung fast der gesamten Hofkirche und der Figuren stellte allein der Staat 3,5 Millionen Mark zur Verfügung. Die jetzigen Restaurierungsarbeiten konzentrieren sich vor allem auf den Ausbau und die Ausstattung der Katholischen Hofkirche.
