Freiberg, Dom Unser Lieben Frauen ADN-ZB Thieme 13.11.1976 Bez. Karl-Marx-Stadt: Hoch über den Dächern der alten Freiberger Unterstadt erhebt sich der Dom zu Freiberg - eines der bedeutendsten Baudenkmäler des Bezirks Karl-Marx-Stadt. Der Dom mit seiner Silbermann-Orgel und der Goldenen Pforte zieht alljährlich Tausende Besucher und Touristen aus dem In- und Ausland an. Die Goldene Pforte, etwa 1230 errichtet, ist eines der frühesten und bedeutendsten deutschen Beispiele für die umfassende Verbindung von Architektur und Plastik. Sie ist älter als der Dom, dessen Langhaus nach einem Brand von 1484 neu errichtet und 1971 zuletzt restauriert wurde. Das wertvolle Erbe wird seit Jahren mit großzügiger staatlicher Unterstützung gepflegt. - Der Bezirk Karl-Marx-Stadt ist mit rund 70 Museen, Baudenkmälern und anderen wertvollen Kunstschätzen einer der museumsreichsten Bezirke der DDR.
