| Description | This mansard-roofed building is located on Mansfield Street in the Prospect Hill Historic District of Cincinnati's Mount Auburn neighborhood. Constructed in the late 19th Century, this second empire-style rowhouse apparently suffered a foundation problem that resulted in the need for reconstruction of the rear of the structure, which is currently ongoing. Stories like this are common across the city, as many homeowners have no access to resources to help them fix their historic, yet deteriorating buildings, and negligent out-of-state landlords who do not care about the historic value of the structures, and allow them to deteriorate until they are uninhabitable. Hopefully, this pattern of neglect can be reversed, and the case of buildings like this one being restored is a good sign of there being a segment of the population in the city who values the historic urban fabric. |
