Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bushfires are still threatening parts of Tasmania although there is no immediate danger to any communities at this time. The Pipeline Road incident is the most worrisome due to gusty winds in the area. The Tasmania Fire Service has four areas under advisement currently. There are other bushfire incidents but no others have advisements at this time. NASA's Suomi NPP satellite collected this natural-color image using the VIIRS (Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite) instrument on February 08, 2016. Actively burning areas, detected by MODIS’s thermal bands, are outlined in red. NASA image courtesy Jeff Schmaltz LANCE/EOSDIS MODIS Rapid Response Team, GSFC.
