[edit]DescriptionBy door of Mount Baker Theater, light was a different color (25716695584).jpg |
This is one thing that has been lost due to Bellingham's streetlight retrofit. The lights seem to all be the same color now. Before the retrofit, sidewalk lamps on the cast iron style poles had the yellow glow of sodium vapor except the one right by the main entrance. It had more of a mercury style bluish white glow. Now the lamps by the theater have been replaced with the saucer style also used around the Lightcatcher Museum. When the old style poles went out, I was worried that they would all be replaced with the saucers, but this has only happened on a few blocks. The cast iron style lamp poles remain in most of the Arts District, Fairhaven District and a few other areas. |
