Description C-105 Amazonas - O EADS/CASA C-295, é um bimotor turbohélice desenvolvido para o transporte tático militar pela Construcciones Aeronáuticas S.A. (CASA), parte da antiga EADS, agora também Airbus. A Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB) adquiriu em 2005 um lote de 12 aviões, que receberam a designação de C-105 Amazonas. Estes aviões substituíram os históricos e veneráveis C-115 (Buffalo) que realizaram missões de transporte aéreo logístico, aeroterrestre, lançamento aéreo, evacuação aeromédica, busca, salvamento e paraquedismo. O primeiro C-105 Amazonas foi entregue para a FAB em 16 de outubro de 2006. Os Amazonas são aeronaves do tipo STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) com decolagem e pouso curto, decolando em somente 320 mt e pousando em somente 670 mt e podendo operar em pistas semi preparadas. Estes aviões podem voar 4969 km com 4 toneladas de carga, com velocidade de cruzeiro de 474 km/h. Em 2014, a Força Aérea Brasileira encomendou mais 3 aeronaves configuradas para SAR (Search And Rescue). Estes novos aviões terão equipamentos de bordo para aumentar as possibilidades de localizar aeronaves, embarcações ou pessoas desaparecidas, inclusive no período noturno, estas três aeronaves especiais serão entregues em 2017.
