Description
English: On Cystine Lactose Electrolyte Deficient (CLED) agar, colonies of Citrobacter freundii typically exhibit the following morphology:

Colony Color:The colonies often appear pink to red on CLED agar due to the fermentation of lactose, which is present in the medium. Colony Shape: Citrobacter freundii colonies are usually round with an entire or slightly undulate (wavy) margin. Texture:The colonies may have a smooth or slightly mucoid texture. Size:The size of the colonies can vary, but they are generally moderate in size.

Lactose Fermentation:Citrobacter freundii is a lactose fermenter, and this is reflected in the colony color on CLED agar. The fermentation of lactose produces acid, leading to the change in color.
