Nederlands: Foto. (P. Boomgaard, 2001). Een tijgergevecht English (mechanical translation of above): In the 19th century there were two rituals where tigers were involved. Those were the tiger-buffalo fight, which the Central Javanese princes a tiger and a water buffalo (carabao) were fighting against each other, usually by the buffalo was won, and tijgerstekerij or tijgerrampok. This last ritual that was organized by the Regents, they closed a few tigers and leopards in a kind of boxes. They were then put down on a large field surrounded by a square of Javanese armed with spikes, three rows deep. Then the tiger was hunted from his chest, whereupon he were trying to escape, taking each time a wall of peaks butt. In most cases the tiger died of the wounds he thus rose, but occasionally he jumped over the rows carriers peak back and escaped. (P. Orchard, 2001). A tiger fight |
