Nederlands: Stereonegatief. Ook al was Sumatra nog zo dicht bebost, pogingen tot herbebossing werden al vroeg ondernomen. Al in 1907, als de Dienst van het Boschwezen nog maar net begonnen is zich ook met Sumatra te bemoeien, onderneemt de dienst pogingen tot herbebossing in Atjeh (waar door de oorlog veel bos verdwenen was). Door grote droogte en brand mislukten die echter. In 1911 werd de ontbossing in twee gewesten als groot probleem gemeld, namelijk Sumatra's Westkust en Sumatra's Oostkust.
