Nederlands: Negatief. De Toba-Bataks kenden stenen lijkkisten met stenen deksel (sarcofaag). De op de foto afgebeelde kist, die van 1840 dateert, is getooid met de kop van een singa. Deze term en het dier dat ermee wordt aangeduid verraadt invloed vanuit India. Singa betekent leeuw in het Sanskriet en is bijvoorbeeld terug te vinden in de naam Singapore (Singapura, leeuwenstad). Ook is het woord terug te vinden in de titel van de legendarische 'priestervorst' van de Bataks, Si Singamangaraja. Leeuwen kwamen echter niet voor op Sumatra of op Singapore, zodat we wellicht eerder aan een tijger moeten denken. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
