| Description | Luxury first class car 'Cape Race', the signage for which appeared just before this picture. Although the signage is self explanatory, to state briefly, this car was built in Canada in 1929 and named 'River Liard'. It was a luxurious first class sleeper car which included a lounge, showers, smoking room solarium and a small buffet. In 1941, the lounge and showers were re-built as bedrooms. The car was renamed 'Cape Race' in 1947 eventuallysold to a railway society in Toronto in 1969 who used it for a while as a lounge car and gift shop. (Toronto, Canada, Nov.2015) |
