Description
English: 110 km west of Alice Springs in the West MacDonnell Ranges is the Ochre Pits, a colourful outcrop of natural ocherous mineral on the banks of a sandy creek. Ochre has been an important part of indigenous Australian culture and a vital part of their everyday life, mined for ceremonies, medicine, and also for trading .
