Description
English: Now a branch of the HSBC bank. Read the Blog post about this relief here. The camels represent a load of coffee being transported - the building was occupied by peek Bros tea and coffee importers who had this grand building erected in 1883 after the railway was cut through beneath. The carving is byWilliam Theed the younger. who produced a camel group for the Albert memorial and a statue of Isaac Newton in Grantham inter alia.
