Description
Català: Canelobre de taula de bronze, segle XI, 47, 5 x 26 cm. Islàmic fatimita. Museu arqueològic d'Alacant.

Consta de tres parts ensamblades. La base és de casquet esfèric amb vora en ala d'on arrenquen tres potes en forma de peülla de cavall; es remata amb un pivot troncocònic de vora exvasada i plana. Sobre aquest pivot es recolza el fust, format per un nus esfèric, columna de secció hexagonal i llisa, i nus esfèric amb acabat atrompetat per a suportar els platerets de rematada. El plateret el formen un disc troncocilíndric de base plana, parets curtes i vora engrossida amb llavi lleugerament exvasat. El canelobre no està decorat. Està realitzat en bronze, amb motle d’arena i els encasts i acoblament de les tres peces es realitzen per mitjà de soldadura d'estany.

El canelobre és un dels nou apareguts en el conjunt de bronzes de Dénia i constitueix una peça molt singular, ja que fins al moment no es coneixen exemplars similars a la península. Van ser estudiats en part per J. Zozaya i, segurament, van arribar a Dénia com a part dels presents que el califa fatimita va enviar al Taifa Iqbal al-Daula en agraïment pels aliments enviats per a sufocar la fam patida per Egipte l'any 1055.
