Foi construída em 1776, a mando de D. Manuel de Vasconcelos Pereira, Bispo de Lamego natural de Castro Daire, em conjunto com a Casa da Cerca que se ergue ao lado, servindo-lhe de capela privativa. A capela destaca-se pela sua planta octogonal, principalmente se considerarmos o facto que este tipo de arquitectura é típica da zona de Braga e Coimbra durante o período da restauração e depois, mais tarde, associadas à figura da Rainha e regente D. Luísa de Gusmão. Aos seus pés desenvolve-se a Fonte das Carrancas, formando uma magnífica composição com a capela no plano superior.
