Description
Español: CORBETA MARÍA de 'BILBAO'

Según el Dr. Christian Ostersehlte, archivista e historiador del Deutsches Schifffahrtsmuseum (German Maritime Museum):

“Según nuestra información, la barca María fue construida en H. F. Ulrichs en Fähr (cerca de Bremen) en 1865 para N. de Olaguibel, Bilbao. Sus datos: 493 toneladas registradas, dimensiones 41,2 x 9,1 x 4,8 m. En 1887 consta como propiedad de Doña P. Cabicies y Zuluaga, Bilbao al mando de un Capitán Calle. En 1889 fue vendido a J. A. Gorocica, Bilbao. Además se mencionan los registros de la Compañía Marítima Gorocica (gerentes Gorocica, Zabala) y Tomás Gorocica, todos de Bilbao. Capitanes mencionados: Careaga, V. Torres, A. Arritzabalaga, J. de Oleaga, Abril. El barco fue desguazado en Barcelona en octubre de 1909”.

"66 MARÍA

Barca - 1865 - 233 CL/493 RT - 41,2 m x 9,1 m x 4,8 m - [68] El ‘María’ fue la segunda de las tres barcas construidas por Ulrichs para la naviera española N. de Olaguibel de Bilbao. Posteriormente (1887) el barco navegaba al mando del Capitán Calle para Doña P. Cabices y Zuluaga, también de Bilbao.

Hacia 1889, el ‘María’ fue vendido a otro armador bilbaíno, J. A. Gorocica. En los años siguientes se nombran como propietarios a la Compañía Marítima Gorocica (gerentes Gorocica y Zabala) y Tomás Gorocica, todos ellos bilbaínos. Los capitanes eran Careaga, V. Torres, A. Arritzabalaga, J. de Oleaga y Abril. El barco estuvo en servicio hasta el siglo XX y recién fue desguazado en Barcelona en octubre de 1909".
