Description
Sørensen was in Sweden in July 1861 to cover the departure of the Swedish King Charles XV to France and Britain for the Danish weekly Illustreret Tidende. The King travelled with the Swedish-Norwegian training squadron, and Sørensen drew the ships for the magazine on July 27 and made this painting, dated July 30. The flagship was the steam ship of the line Stockholm, seen to the left.
