English: The 1896 team photographed before a match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This was the last Carlton team to play in the Victorian Football League. W. C. According to his surviving niece, the missionary Charles Brooking Hannah is believed to be the player seated in the middle row with the cap who is turning slightly away from the camera.
