Núm. Inv. 4837. El carro del país o chillón siempre utiliza como fuerza motriz una pareja de bueyes o vacas a un xugo sujeto a los cuernos y no al cuello. Su uso estaba destinado a transportar la hierba desde el campo hasta la tenada, el cucho (estiércol) desde la cuadra hasta la tierra de labor, las patatas, etc.. Fundamentalmente estaba realizado en roble, pero otras maderas no le eran extrañas, como en el caso del eixe que podía ser de abedul, cerezo, etc. o el fresno e incluso el pino (en piezas más modernas). La denominación “chillón” es porque el eje y las ruedas forman un conjunto único y macizo que hace que giren juntos, rozando la madera del eixe con el punto de apoyo de la caja (caucilón), produciendo un peculiar y característicos chirrido penetrante. Cada carro tiene su propio “canto”, de manera que por el sonido, los vecinos podían conocer al propietario del mismo a su paso. Algunos mojaban la zona de contacto entre el rodal y la caja, para que el chillido o “canto” fuese mucho más agudo y dar la sensación que el carro iba más cargado de lo que en realidad transportaba. También, esta zona de contacto, se podía lubricar con grasa o jabón, que facilitaba el tiro del carro a la pareja de bueyes o vacas.
