Title
Cattle parade at country show near Clare
Description

The 1932 Clare Show was popular, despite the Great Depression. Originally, the Clare Show was held about a mile (1.6 kilometres) north of the town at Inchiquin, the property of pioneering Irish settler Edward Burton Gleeson. In 1929 the Clare Show was shifted to the picturesque site shown in the photograph. Located south of the town at Green's Bridge, the Clare Show has been held there ever since and the move was described as '...the most notable step forward the Clare Show has ever made.' The Clare Agricultural and Horticultural Society purchased the land and developed the grounds and facilities.
