Description
Português: As Cavalhadas são celebrações inspiradas nas tradições de Portugal e da Espanha na Idade Média. Elas começaram a ser representadas no Brasil no século XVI. Em Goiás, o primeiro registro é de 1751, na cidade de Santa Luzia (hoje Luziânia). O cenário das Cavalhadas consiste em uma grande encenação a céu aberto da batalha entre mouros e cristãos pela reconquista da Península Ibérica. São dois exércitos com 12 cavaleiros cada, que durante três dias se apresentam, encenando a luta, ricamente ornada e com belíssimas coreografias. Junto a esta manifestação, encontra-se a presença dos Mascarados, personagens incontáveis que se vestem com máscaras e saem às ruas, a cavalo ou a pé, fazendo algazarras.
