Summary[edit]

Description
English: Eastbound view from the intersection of 14th Avenue and E Street in Anchorage, Alaska, a short distance south of its downtown area. The northern end of Central Middle School, with its flagpoles and flags, is seen at right. At left is the former wire center operated by the Anchorage Telephone Utility, which served the downtown-area telephone exchange. The Anchorage city government based its emergency operations department (the same thing they called "civil defense" when I was a kid) in the building following the sale of the telephone utility. I can't say whether it's still used for that purpose.
