Description
Français : La butte isolée sur laquelle se trouvent les vestiges du château d'Opoul (à l'extrémité droite de la colline). Dans ce synclinal du Crétacé, le calcaire plus haut, de couleur plus foncée, est séparé du calcaire en-dessous plus ancien, de couleur plus claire, par une couche de marne (qui sous-tend la végétation vert foncé sous le château). L'altération et l'érosion de la marne, moins résistante, ont sapé le calcaire dur, créant ainsi les impressionnantes falaises qui dominent aujourd'hui le paysage environnant.
