Another try at Château de Vincennes. Stereographic projection of a 360° panorama built from 43 pictures (EXIF data from the first one). Part of my Wee planets set. Because of some limit on Flickr's side, the largest size it will display for the above picture is only 4000x6800. The original picture in its actual size (5000x8500) is here. Usually I will build an equirectangular panorama with hugin, and then I use that equirectangular panorama to do the stereographic projection with mathmap under The Gimp. However this "double sampling" lose some precious information. This is especially visible on the sides of the planetoïds, away from the center of the planet, where the pixels of the equirectangular panorama get stretched by the stereographic projection in an ugly way. For this panorama I built the stereographic projection directly from hugin (0.6.1) to see how better that would look. The hard part was to tell hugin the nadir was at pitch 0° instead of -90°, and then forget about using vertical or horizontal constraints... Anyway, it seems it was worth it: just zoom in and compare the top of the church in this version with the old one. |
