Description

Châtillon-sur-Indre (Indre).

Eglise Notre-Dame.

Chapiteaux romans du portail ouest.

Le portail occidental, autrefois protégé par un narthex dont les arrachements ont subsisté, montre Adam, Eve et le serpent, et toute une thématique de la lutte des forces du Bien et du Mal. L'étendu du bestiaire est impressionnant : oiseaux, monstres, griffons, dragons, anges et les sirènes, etc. Sur le chapiteau de droite, on découvre Adam et Ève chassés du jardin d'Éden.

Restauré en 2002 et 2006.
