| Description |
English: The dark bands are veins with copper mineralization in a Tertiary-aged sandstone from central Utah's Salina Canyon. The rock was adjacent to a striking angular unconformitiy. Copper-bearing fluids that moved along the contact resulted in patchy mineralization in fractures both above & below the erosion surface. These veins are cored by what appears to be chalcocite, a black, metallic-lustered, copper sulfide mineral (Cu2S). The greenish areas are malachite, a hydrous copper carbonate mineral
