Français : Maquette d'une chaloupe porte-torpilles, France, 1880. Légende : "Ce type de chaloupe, ancêtre du torpilleur, portait une torpille chargée de 14 kg de fulmicoton fixée à l'extrémité d'une perche pouvant s'immeger à 3 m de profondeur. L'explosion se produisait soit par déclenchement électrique, soit par contact avec le navire.Ce procédé extrêmement dangereux pour l'équipage et peu discret vu vite abandonné dès l'apparition des premières torpilles automobiles."
