Description

Roman Bridge of Isle Auger (Chambourg/Indre, France) Le pont Romain de l'Isle Auger (Chambourg/Indre, France)

The bridge called "Roman Bridge".

This bridge was built on the Indre in the fifteenth century, on the site of an ancient Roman ford at a place called the Isle Auger.

After his victory in Orleans, Joan of Arc had taken the bridge to get to Loches in May 1429. There she persuaded Charles VII to go to be crowned at Reims.
