Ginseng is a plant prized for its roots, it is necessary to protect it from direct sunlight, hence these awnings fabric or rice straw in the hot season. The opening is directed towards the north (right of photo). After several years of crop growth, the field must lie fallow and can not be used again for ginseng for several years afterward.

Le ginseng est une plante de sous-bois, qu'il est nécessaire de protéger de la lumière solaire directe, d'où ces auvents en tissu ou en paille de riz en saison chaude. L'ouverture est dirigée vers le nord (à droite de la photo). Après les plusieurs années de croissance d'une récolte, le champ doit impérativement rester en jachère et ne pourra porter à nouveau de ginseng que de nombreuses années après.
