Changhe Changlingwang

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Place: Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Chinese name: 昌河昌铃王 (chānghé chānglíngwáng) Year of launch: ?

Changhe was established in 1973 as a bus manufacturer, but from 1982 it started producing the Suzuki Carry ST90V in license under its own name. Together with Wuling, Changan and Hafei/Songhuajiang, Changhe was part of the big four of microvan production, and all four relied on Suzuki Carry technology. Since 1995 Changhe formed a joint venture with Suzuki. At some point, AVIC (Aviation Industry Corp. of China) acquired Changhe, joining Hafei, until both Changhe and Hafei were bought by Changan in 2009. Changan couldn't turn flagging sales back up. In 2013 BAIC bought Changhe. Since then the Senova X25 and X35-based Changhe Q25 and Q35 were launched, as well as the M50 and M70, with technology of BAIC's Weiwang brand. Older products include the Changhe Ideal, a small city car launched in 2003 and styled by Bertone, and the Freedom van launched in 2007.
