Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Charles Haist House, 1093 Ellicott Street at Northampton Street, Buffalo, New York, June 2020. One of a number of fine Queen Anne-style residences to be found on the northernmost block of Ellicott Street in Cold Spring, the one seen here sports a steep front-gabled roof on the main façade, a modest turret with an engaged conical roof on the north elevation facing Northampton Street, and shingle cladding on the upper floors contrasting with the clapboard siding on the ground floor. 1093 Ellicott was built in 1890 as home of businessman Charles A. Haist (1852-1913), who worked at the time as a bookkeeper with Schaefer & Brother Malting and was also a trustee of the First Evangelical Church and an officer of the 17th Ward Good Government Club. By the time he moved out, in 1900, Haist had become president of the Keystone Manufacturing Company, which specialized in ratchets, ratchet drills, adjustable wrenches, and socket sets.
