Description

Carte de visite photograph of Charles Hardy (1813-1867), of the Hardy family at Dunstall Hall, Staffordshire, England. He was the son of John Hardy MP (1773-1855), and brother of Sir John Hardy and Gathorne Gathorne-Hardy who became Lord Cranbrook.

In adult life he lived at Odsall House, near Low Moor, Bradford, and superintended the Low Moor ironworks. He was a major benefactor to seven churches in the area, including St Matthew Bankfoot, and St Michael and All Angels, Shelf, both in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
