Summary[edit]

Description
English: At Brisbane.

Tremendous Crowds. Break Through Barriers. Unprecedented Scenes.

Kingsford Smith was first to climb out of the machine, and he acknowledged the cheers of the crowd with a smile and a shout: "Hello, Aussies."

He was followed by Ulm and both demanded cigarettes and inhaled them with luxurious enjoyment.

The navigator Lyons, who is the "wag" of the party remarked: "Waal, Jim, we've travelled 7000 miles to get a drink."

CROWD OUT OF HAND

Again the crowd went mad. Cheering lustily, they rushed to the aviators, shook hands with them, and lifted them shoulder high to a waiting motor car at the other end of the aerodrome.

The crowd around the little party was terrific, and in several cases children were knocked over, and with great difficulty saved from being trampled upon by the excited crowd. The small force of police was swept away like straws in the wind. The broadcasting apparatus of 4QG [...] was knocked over. Cameras were knocked out of the hands of Press photographers. Eventually the motor car containing the aviators circled the ground amid the frenzied cheering of the crowd, and then swung out of the ground en route to the Town Hall.
