Français : Chasseurs inuit en qajaq Ces qajaq de mer qui peuvent mesurer entre 5 et 7 mètres de long sont faits d’une carcasse de bois de flottage, recouverte de peaux de phoque annelé ou barbu. Les doubles pagaies sont parfois bordées d'ivoire. On distingue à l’avant des deux qajaq du centre un harpon articulé (igimaq) pour mammifère marin, et un dard à oiseau (nuit) qui se lançait avec un propulseur. On distingue bien la lanière du harpon enroulée dans un cercle de bois devant le pagayeur. Le flotteur qui permet de récupérer le gibier est normalement disposé à l'arrière du pagayeur. |
