Summary

[edit]
Description
English: By happenstance and good fortune, a group of Cheyenne came to sing prayers over the deceased on the day I visited the site. One of the members left his ceremonial drum near a fence where I could photograph it with the massacre site in the background. The massacre occurred throughout the trees and especially throughout the encampments in the clearing pictured in the central, right-hand portion of the photo. Though many were lost, the Cheyenne remain.

This is an image of a place or building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the United States of America. Its reference number is 01001055.
