English: From Cincinnati Public Library: "Children viewing images from the Library’s stereograph collection at Old Main. Prior to the advent of motion pictures, stereographs were a popular form of entertainment. Stereographs were created by placing two slight variations of the same scene side-by-side on a card. When viewed through a stereoscope like the one below, the two images combined, creating a single three-dimensional image." |
