Summary[edit]

Description	Chinon (Indre-et-Loire) Caves rue du Coteau de Sainte Radegonde. Les nombreuses caves sont le résultat de l'exploitation des anciennes carrières de tuffeau utilisées pour la construction du château et de la ville. Il n'est pas rare que le terrain miné s'effondre, ainsi les 14 et 15 août 1921, une partie du coteau Saint-Martin s'effondre en emportant la voierie et une quarantaine de maisons, heureusement sans faire de victime. Depuis le 18ème siècle, on a recensé plus d'une douzaine d'éboulements ayant entraîné la mort de 8 personnes. Ces caves ont pu être utilisées pour la conservation du vin ou comme habitations troglodytiques.
