English: Prestin motor proteins (green squares) contract when the outer hair cell depolarises (right side), thereby shortening the hair cell altogether and vibrating the basilar membrane of the cochlea.
Deutsch: Prestin-Motorproteine (grüne Rechtecke) kontrahieren, wenn die äußere Haarzelle depolarisiert (rechts). Dadurch verkürzt sich die seitliche Membran der Haarzelle schallsynchron. Diese Verkürzungsbewegung überträgt sich auf die Basilarmembran der Cochlea, wodurch deren Schwingung verstärkt wird. |
