Summary
[edit]DescriptionChortens of Durpin Monastery - Kalimpong India.jpg |
English: Durpin Monastery, or Zang Dhok Palri Monastery, is located 5 km from Kalimpong on Durpin Dara Hill. The monastery was constructed in 1972 by Dudjum Rinpoche and was consecrated by the 14th (and current) Dalai Lama in 1976. The monastery houses 108 volumes of the Kangyur, rare Buddhist manuscripts that were moved out of Tibet by the Dalai Lama after the Chinese invasion led to his exile. The courtyard of the Durpin Monastery. as pictured, has a row of nine Chortens or Stupas holding religious relics. |
