| Description |
English: Built in 1893, this Queen Anne-style building was constructed for Christian F. Rinder to house his grocery, and today houses the Pinkus McBride Market and Deli. The building is clad in painted brick with a rectangular footprint and a chamfered corner, a rusticated stone base, a first floor with large storefront windows, brick corbeling, rusticated stone belt coursing at the base of the cornice, an oriel window on the second floor of the Hamilton Street facade, a parapet enclosing a low-slope roof, a datestone above the oriel emblazoned with the year “1893”, arched windows on the Johnson Street facade of the building, and an oriel window on the second floor of the Johnson Street facade. The building demonstrates the architectural variety of residential areas that can be found on the Downtown Madison Isthmus. |
